PO Box Stuff #1

June 18th, 2009 by D feather

We get such great stuff in our PO Box, that we thought it’d be worth starting a series of posts to share it with you … Here’s something we received yesterday;

good-deed-cash2

It was a first indeed … a little envelope with a big red CASH stamped on the front, containing, you guessed it, CASH! $10!! The note on the inside says “small things matter, do something kind with this and you will feel better.” It was completely anonymous other than an email address for us to let them know what we did with the $10 … What shall we do??? Suggestions most welcome

Buy a gooey cake for the office – or an office of people you love to visit.

    1. Buy 10 Chuppa Chups (think they cost $0.90?)

    2. Place each one into an envelope enclose with a note about how you’ve received $10 and their message, including the email address….

    3. Now, drop each one off into the letterbox of someone you think it might bring a smile to :)

Spread the joy, spread the thought and Pass it Forward.

P/s. If you ever have a follow up to this, please share???

Why not pass it on Dumbo Feather. Send it to one of your subscribers and see what they do?

You guys should drop round a men’s or women’s shelter and hand it over to someone spending the night – especially great if its someone with a child… could equate to loaf of bread, some cheese and teabags – v v handy xo

Add $10 and buy a Jubilee Tea Towel from the Hamlin Fistula Relief & Aid Fund. The drawings on the tea towels are by the fistula patients at the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital – http://www.fistulatrust.org

Auction it, then you’ll have more $ to spread the love a little further. I bid $11 for your tenner.

Buy a small red Moleskine from me ($10 for you because of your amazing work, free postage).
Write on the first page “Five reasons you’re amazing”,
Second page “Five reasons I need you”,
Third page “Five talents you have”,
Fourth page “Five adventures I’d love you to join me on”.
Fill out each page for a friend that you will send the journal to, post on, asking them to write and pass on.
Now your $10 dollars of giving = 20 seeds of hope…then more…then more. Easy ;)

Buy a chicken from Oxfam – Poultry power, paltry price exactly $10

It helps in training women in income-generating activities such as poultry rearing giving them the opportunity to earn money for themselves and their families. Don’t chicken out…

… pay me commission for that subscription I got for you at the Melb Designer Market… am I talking DF up or what!

  • 18 Susie Jun 24, 2009 at 7:15 pm

Does DF have a charity it supports? Would be nice to find one you all would love to donate to and send the $10 as a ’symbolic’ beginning to paying it forward. Then all your followers (us) could follow that charity’s progress and donate, too, if we wanted to. It’d be kinda cool and connected :-)

Buy Seeds and plant food or a tree – or both – from little things big things grow

  • 20 Adeline Jun 25, 2009 at 12:01 am

    I think you should
    1) Donate a dollar to the first busker you see.
    2) Use 2 dollars to buy feathers…
    3) And 2 dollars for a headband
Attach the feathers to the headband and go around advertising Dumbo Feather (Love it BTW)
    4) Put the remaining 5 dollars in an envelope and pass it on!

go to the market, buy a bit of fruit and veggies, and tell them the story so they might give you more… go to a housing commission building and randomly choose a door, knock on it and when they open the door give them the food or…
buy a chicken for a family in need through http://www.oxfamunwrapped.com.au.
