Laura: You’re seven now. How is it being seven?

Coen: It’s okay. I liked being six more though.

L: Why?

C: I don’t know. It’s like Neverland in Peter Pan. What are you writing?

L: I’m typing what you say.

C: Huh?

L: It’s not a big deal. I’m just writing down what we say. So you think that being six was like Neverland. What is seven like?

C: Getting older. Or winning a grade.

L: What is your favorite thing to do now?

C: Um, Go to school.

L: What do you like about school?

C: It’s weird. Why are you interviewing me? Don’t write that down, what I just said.

L: I’m interviewing you for a project Harrell’s doing. Interviews with children.

C: Oh. Is he a artist?

L: Yes.

C: Is he the one that said he likes that drawing? (points to his drawing of spaceships and elaborate docking system)

L: Yeah, he is. What are you most worried about at seven?

C: That I’ll die soon.

L: Really? Why are you laughing about it?

C: Hmmmm. Because it’s a joke.

L: You’re not really worried about that?

C: Uh-uh.

L: So are you worried about anything?

C: No.

L: Tell me about your chickens.

C: They’re tiny, only this big. (makes an inch with fingers) And one is this big. (holds hands over head)

L: Are you going to answer any of my questions or just mess around?

C: Answer questions.
