Interview between Anna and her eight-year-old son Jolly
Anna: Hey Jolly, tell me something you feel very strongly about.
Jolly: Well I feel very, well, quite strong about yeah, plastic bags. So one day when I had some free time, I sat down and wrote to the Prime Minister.
A: Why did you write to the Prime Minister?
J: Because, I thought we’ve got to do something about this! We can’t just leave…I don’t know, a plastic bag, lets just say for example a whale goes along and (makes crunching chewing sounds) and swallows it and suffocates and dies. So I thought let’s do something about this, let’s write to the Prime Minister!
A: Do you think he’s going to do something about it?
J: I think he’s going to do something about it, cos he’s the Prime Minister, he’s the head of basically the whole committee. So I wrote to him. He did say he was decreasing it, but it wasn’t really enough to make me feel safe.
A: So what do you think he should do about it, Jolls?
J: I think he should get a lot of people to collect up all the plastic bags and things made out of plastic and throw it all away and replace the things we need, with things not made out of plastic…. but NOT LEGO!
