So, many of you know that for a while now we’ve been hatching something … well finally it’s live, it’s … The Nest – a new place on our website where you can go to find out what other good eggs are up to …
Perhaps you’re in need of a web designer (you should meet Mike Cairns), an organic body cream (you should meet Sarah Fisher), a legendary graphic designer (you should meet Jim Parry), a meditation class (you should meet Kate James), a new frock (you should meet Angela Nash)
And of course, you can also let others know what you’re up to. Your own listing is only $48 at the mo (and tax deductible of course) AND you’ll go in the draw to win a free full-page ad in the next issue of Dumbo feather!
See you in The Nest! x

Why The Nest.
We know that many of you beaver away doing the most fantastic things behind the scenes. Amongst Dumbo feather’s readers are concert pianists, olive-growers, flying doctors, UN peace-keepers, mothers with special-needs children, textiles experts, naturopaths, photographers …
In the past we’ve bandied the word ‘community’ around .. “the Dumbo feather community …” then we realised that just because you all love the mag and interact with it, that doesn’t make you a community. The individuals in a community interact with each other, they share, they converse, and they inspire. The Nest is our way of helping that happen.
It is deliberately about individuals, not their companies and not their brands because Dumbo feather is about connecting with real people first, and what they do second.
We’ve tried to keep the cost of listing as low as possible. A listing will exist for as long as … well, as long as Dumbo feather does, which we all hope will be forever and a day! Once you’ve purchased a listing here you’ll be emailed a link to a pdf which explains all the bits you’ll need to send us so we can get you in The Nest asap.

Ps. Just received this lovely note from Rebecca Wolkenstein after only a couple of days in The Nest…

“I was debating whether to list on The Nest.  I thought to myself, what the hell, there seem to be a lot of likeminded people listing and $48 really isn’t a huge amount of money.  Literally within a couple of hours I had enquiries coming in about Caravan.  For me, the important thing isn’t traffic, it’s qualified traffic.  And since the whole principle behind Caravan relies on likeminded individuals hooking up to facilitate cheap travel, having the Df demographic making enquiries is so exciting for me.
I imagine pretty soon The Nest is going to become a little commercial community of its own.  The shared value system and lifestyle really makes the whole marketing schtick unnecessary.  It’s a huge shortcut to my target market and it feels right and easy.  If you make one qualified contact out of The Nest, I believe it’s paid for itself.”

Very thrilled and excited about Dumbo feather and generally everything you do – have to make special comment about the Nest – I will be signing up when I decide what my next move is going to be. Currently have returned to the bush in NW NSW (have an elderly mother) Am a semi-retired interior designer now retraining to be a teacher but really want to do is paint, print, create waste to art pieces and build an art community in the bush! More of that later – so please that others out there refuse to recognise the r and d ession words and applaund everyone pulling together to get on with it.
    Thankyou
