Sruli Recht opening spreadPhotography by Omar Sverrison & Lina Hansson

Sruli Recht: is a fashion and costume designer who has most recently dipped his toes into footwear design. Schooled in Melbourne, recently inducted into the New York-based Keystone Design Union and currently domiciled in Iceland, he’s one talented, and ever-so-delightful gent. We have no doubt he’ll have a part to play in the next suit-&-tie.
Gayle Heron opening spreadPhotography by Travis deClifford & Sue Hammond

Gayle Heron: Twenty years ago a photography teacher decided to find out whether or not native, Australian plants could be used in the formulation of effective skincare products. After 10 years of juggling research and young-motherhood Gayle Heron had a product range but saw the potential for more. She set out to uncover the secrets of Aboriginal healing techniques. With an indigenous elder as her teacher, Gayle developed LI’TYA, a range of spa products and healing techniques which can be found in the best spas all over the world.

Daniel Tobin opening spread Photograph by Emma Riley

Daniel Tobin: is one half of Urban Art Projects (UAP). If you’ve ever wished you could clone yourself in order to get the job done, then you’re bound to be a tad envious of Daniel. He is one half of the identical-twin team who founded UAP 15 years ago. Since then UAP have played a part in most of the significant public art installations in Australia whether designing them, commissioning artists to do so, or actually making the works themselves. Their contribution to public art in Australia in unparalleled and they’re about to take on the rest of the world.

Caro LLewellyn opening spread Photograph by Trudy Armstrong

Caro Llewellyn: is currently director of PEN World Voices – the New York festival of International Literature. In 2006 Caro did something a bit barmy, she resigned from her role as the director of the Sydney Writers’ Festival (SWF). In her time as director she’d almost doubled attendance figures and turned SWF into one of the best in the world. It was her dream job, but she quit because she had an insatiable desire to live and work in New York. She had no other job lined up, but just trusted something would come through. It did. Salman Rushdie, then the head of PEN America, wanted to interview her.

David Duval-Smith opening spread Photography by Namaiki.

David Duval-Smith: is part of Tokyo-based design duo Namaiki. Namaiki’s philosophy is simple; ‘unless you do something interesting, nobody’s going to ask you to do anything interesting.’ To that end they follow their hearts and instincts creating bars, beers and jungles along the way. Commissions follow from musicians for stage sets, exclusive crystal-makers for shop fit-outs, galleries and museums for installations… For the past couple of years their hearts have led them to gardening and permaculture and the influence it’s had on their work is remarkable.
