Julia deVille SnapshotPhotography by Susan Grdunac

Julia deVille: is a taxidermist, jeweller and artist all at once. Based in Melbourne, she uses animals to create jewellery that challenges the existing notions of life, death and the beauty in nature. Her use of creatures that have died naturally is her way of celebrating life and preserving something beautiful.

Jimmy Wales Snapshot Photography by Nic Hill

Jimmy Wales: is Mr. Wikipedia. He has been travelling the world meeting the people who have helped the online encyclopedia thrive and to spread the word about the free culture movement. He believes in broad public participation and that access to information is a human right. Read the story behind the website that everyone uses.

Fiona Caulfield Snapshot

Fiona Caulfield: swapped her high flying, high stress world of global marketing for the fragant, bustling world of India, where she has produced the Love Travel Guides. She is the epitome of a globe-trotter and wants you to fall in love with the same cities she already has. Get set to travel.

Tim & Caia Snapshot Photography by Pete Daly

Tim Georgeson & Caia Hagel: have created “BLOOD; or A Long Weekend with my Wife’s Family” by combining their perspectives, one as a writer and one as a photographer. They’ve turned themselves into the subjects and bravely explored the meaning of what blood relationships mean for the family and the individual.

Jimmy Pham Snapshot Photography by Steve Jackson

Jimmy Pham: walks the walk and talks the talk. Wanting to make a difference, he started the restaurant KOTO, Know One Teach One, in Hanoi where street kids are trained to become skilled hospitality professionals. After ten years of hard work, sweat & tears, KOTO has looked after over 300 kids, some of whom then came back to teach the younger. Bill Clinton went, Laura Bush went, now will you?

    Hi Dumbo Feather,

Lovely to see you recently at the Mebourne Designer Market. My friend Rowan picked up Issue 12 there, and after reading it and passing it on to me, I’ve just managed to divulge it all myself (mainly during uni lectures). I’m a fairly recent Df convertee, but i have to say that Issue 12 was by far the most fantastic issue I’ve so far read.

Keep up your stunning work-it’s the basis of near-daily conversations in my circles.

    Sharne.
