Great!
Photograph by Matt Reed (Issue 2)
Today New Zealand (and indeed the World) says good bye to one of it’s most wonderful citizens, Sir Edmund Hilary. A truly amazing example to us all of humility, compassion and drive. As Bradley Trevor Greive said in his interview with us in Issue 2, “It’s not just that Hilary’s done so much since his epic feat - you never see him resting on his laurels - he’s so unassuming for someone who’s an international icon. It’s never about him… When I think that a New Zealand bee-keeper was the first human being to stand on the roof of the world, it just tells you that anything you dream of is possible.”
I think that’s a pretty good note to start the year on. Wishing you all the very best for it…

Kevin Roberts (Dumbo feather Issue 4) has written a great blog post about his experiences getting to know Hillary and interviewing him for his Peak Performance book. He writes,”Ed told me that a challenge wasn’t a challenge if you actually thought you could achieve it. What was the point fooling yourself with challenges that were in reach. The only fun was to constantly go after something that seemed unattainable. A true ‘Nothing is Impossible’ spirit.”

I thought you may like to know that the image pictured in Matt Reed’s photograph was taken by
Alfred Gregory. For those in Melbourne they can come see more of Alfred’s wonderful images of Sir Hillary and the team who took on Everest.
