Last Tuesday evening in Melbourne we had our 3rd ever ‘Evening with Dumbo feather & friends’… We loved it, hope everyone who was there did too. Here are some of the things that made the night so special, and that you and people who came might want to find out more about
The beautiful large candles like this;
that lead to the entrance of
and that were in the packs for everyone were made of 100%, Australian beeswax by
… The
samples were provided by Suzanne Santos (
from Issue 3)… The
we drank was from a local spring in the Victorian Alps, sure it’s
but it’s local and the 3 guys behind it are bloody characters… We heard Martin, the publisher of the recently released
talk, um, slowly… Samantha mentioned a great interview with Carl Honore, author of ‘In Praise of Slowness’, viewable on TED Talks. We ate baked goods from our own Baker di Chirico (
from Issue 10)… Robert Rabbin, who writes for Dumbo feather and is our own ‘
coach’ talked about talking - well, ‘
‘ actually… And of course Jimmy Pham (
from Issue 12) of
who never ceases to amaze with his selflessness and vision (ps. the footage we were unable to play on the night is viewable on YouTube here)… All the while we got intimate with a

. We knew who everyone was thanks to
from our Swedish friends at
who have just opened new stores in Lt Collins St and Clarendon St, South Melbourne. And last but not least, how cute was Rupert the

Most massive thanks from Kate to Abi, Barrie, Beth & Kirsty, John and Joost for helping make it happen.
Here are some montages taken and created by one of our readers, Jennifer Zalme (thanks J!)

Looks like it was a great night. How does one get an invite to such events - is it for subscribers only??

Samantha and I had a delightful experience. It was great to hear how it all began and to spend an evening surrounded by inspired individuals.
It would great to a DF Ball ( gathering) maybe 4 times a year. One to celebrate each new season.
Thanks Kate and new community exists because of your courage to fly
Cheers Laura
