After conquering the Arctic last year, David de Rothschild’s (Issue 5) latest eco-mission is to Equador. It’s the first of three missions that he’s undertaking in 12 months. On each, he’ll be accompanied by high-profile artists and ‘creative influencers’ whose challenge is to ARTiculate(TM) some of the world’s most environmentally trashed regions. At the end they will then present their responses to what they experienced and saw.
David’s always been a strong believer in the power of art to communicate. In his interview with us almost two years ago he spoke about “a number of art-based and highly visual projects… to create awareness and visually stimulate people.” These missions, in conjunction with the gallery which is part of Adventure Ecology HQ, sure make that a reality. You can track their progress at the Adventure Ecology site. David’s quite the ‘blogger’.

David de Rothschild : Issue Five : Introduction
Where to start with David de Rothschild? With the organic farm he’s developing as an education centre, the children’s books he’s writing, the naturopathy, the fact that he traversed the Antarctic in record time last year, or that he’s planning on doing the same across the Arctic next year? There’s one consistent motivation to everything David does and that is to create change through education, and to educate by igniting people’s imaginations.

He’s about halfway through the podcast after photographer Chris Jordan whose work is also incredible and worth checking out: http://www.chrisjordan.com
There’s also a written interview with him here: http://www.treehugger.com/files/2007/06/david-de-rothschild-2.php
