Event report: the Dumbo Feather and Sustainable Table Readers' Feast

A few nights ago, Dumbo Feather readers gathered in our ballroom to watch Pope Joan chef Matt Wilkinson work his food magic for our first ever Readers' Feast, in collaboration with Sustainable Table. To their right was a bounteous table of foraged vegetables; to their left, a table groaning with local and ethically-produced bread, cheese, smallgoods, honey, vegetables, chocolate, and booze.

Over the course of the evening, Patrick chatted with Matt and Simone from Daylesford Farmers' Market about the importance of sustainable cooking and better ways to be a locavore.

The audience learned a cheat’s way of making mayonnaise and how to identify quark, heirloom carrots, and giant, tuberous beetroot. Recipes, supplier lists, and a full breakdown of the evening will be working their way online, so keep a keen eye out for the asparagus salad.
